National Do Not Call Registry

Consumers now have a weapon in the fight against Telemarketers.  The Federal government has set up a “National Do Not Call Registry” to help put consumers in charge of the telemarketing calls they get at home. The Federal government created the national registry to make it easier and more efficient for you to stop getting telemarketing calls you don’t want. You can register online at www.donotcall.gov or call toll-free, 1-888-382-1222 (TTY 1-866-290-4236), from the number you wish to register. Registration is free.

The California Attorney General’s Office also has a web site offering assistance to anyone who is seeking information about the National Do Not Call Registry. You can visit their web site at http://caag.state.ca.us/donotcall/

Police Athletic League
The Bakersfield Police Activities League or “BPAL” was formed in 1994 by Bakersfield City Police officers and concerned citizens. It was designed to combat juvenile delinquency by targeting at risk youth in high crime neighborhoods.  BPAL provides opportunities for youth to compete in sports and to learn positive character traits such as self-esteem, respect and integrity.  Through BPAL, police officers and other members of the community serve as role models through their contacts as coaches, referees and mentors. Bakersfield PAL is a chapter member of the state organization California Police Activities League and also a member of the National Police Athletic/Activities League.
