The KCPA is the recognized bargaining representative for the non-management deputy district attorneys within the Kern County District Attorney’s Office, and for the non-management attorneys within the Child Support Services Division. The terms of employment are set forth in the formal employment contract or Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with Kern County.  Generally, MOU’s are renegotiated every several years.  The County Administrative Office (“CAO”) represents the County during those negotiations.

The current KCPA MOU is due to expire on June 30, 2006.  Ninety days prior to the expiration of the MOU, the KCPA negotiation team will notify that County Administrative Office of our intent to enter into negotiations and soon thereafter the CAO’s representatives and the KCPA team will begin the “meet and confer” process. The KCPA Board will keep the membership posted as to all major developments through the process, generally through postings on the members only web site.
